The celebrations of the Epiphany season at St Agnes' for 2009
will appear here nearer the time.

The Feast of the Epiphany falls on January 6th and celebrates three distinct
events in the life of Jesus. Firstly, and most well known is the celebration of the
Visit of the Magi (or kings or wise men) to the baby Jesus. Secondly it celebrates
the
Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan by John. The third event is the miracle of
changing
water into wine at the wedding party in Cana, Galilee.

These three events together form an 'Epiphany' - that is, a manifestation. They
make Jesus known to us, not just as the Son of Mary, the human baby born at
Bethlehem, but also the Christ, the anointed one, the Messiah promised by God.

The Epiphany celebrates these distinct manifestations of Jesus as the Christ
early in his life and ministry.
