These first two photographs show the
chapel before the statues were
moved.
The Blessed Sacrament is kept in the
tabernacle.
These photos show the chapel during
the Watch on Maundy Thursday where
a silent vigil is kept in front of the
Blessed Sacrament until midnight.
The lamp burns continually in front of
the Sacrament as a sign's of the
Christ's sacramental presence.
The lamp also burns each week in
memory of someone. Find out more
here.
To the south of the chapel is a small
area with a statue of Our Lady - given
to the parish by the people of St
Roberts Catholic Church.
In 1985 the church was re-ordered and
the high altar moved from its original
position at the east end to its present
position in the nave. The large stone
reredos had been removed some years
ealier.
What was the chancel and sanctuary
became a versatile space for prayer
and weekday worship.
The tabernacle (where the Blessed
Sacrament is reserved) was built in the
east wall.
Today the chapel is used for small
congregations during the week, as a
place for private prayer and where the
Daily Offices are said.
